Taylor Wimpey has withdrawn its “free go” second attempt to build 295 houses on land north of Gracechurch Street. The Mid Suffolk Council website shows the application was withdrawn on Monday (June 29)
There is no indication of why. Had the developer been advised by planning officers that there was little chance of the scheme getting approval? Are they hoping that Boris Johnson’s speech speech about speeding up housebuilding by cutting out “newt counting red tape” gives them a better chance if they come pack again?
Or is this part of a “corona virus” plan to concentrate on more profitable sites which can be developed quickly?
Other than the notice of withdrawal I have no information. To be sure that Taylor Wimpey will not have yet another go at building on this site or their other one behind the Leisure Centre, we need to know they have no intention of building on these site.
Until they relinquish the agreement with the land-owner which would enable them to build on these sites there can be no certainty that these sites, neither of which is designated for housing in the Neighbourhood Plan is safe.
