Taylor Wimpey has lost its battle to build a housing estate on the edge of Yatton, a small town in North Somerset, campaigners learned this month.
A campaigner against the development told a local newspaper:
We’ve consistently reminded North Somerset Council and developers there has to be a genuine conversation with communities about the scale, quality and location of housing and what infrastructure should underpin that development.
That sounds familiar to people in Debenham where the same company has applied for permission to build 295 houses. It has taken Yatton two-and-a-half years to see off the plan for their town.
After the district council refused permission for the development, Taylor Wimpey appealed against the decision. But this month the inspector who conducted the appeal hearing sided with the council,
